A wreath is the one decoration everybody has an opinion about. Too small and it disappears. Hung low and it looks like it slipped. Elk Grove Christmas wreath hanging is us bringing lit wreaths, putting them where they belong on the house, wiring them to a timer and collecting them after the holidays. Simple job. Easy to get slightly wrong.
On the front door
A door wreath hangs at eye level, centered on the door itself and not on the glass or the peephole. We use a thin hanger over the top edge, so there’s no nail in the door and it still shuts and latches. If you have a security screen, the wreath goes on that outer door or on the wall beside it, because a wreath squashed between two doors lasts about a week.
Double doors get a matched pair, level with each other. A door set deep in a covered entry can be hard to see from the street at all, and that’s when we suggest moving the wreath up and out to where it shows.
Gables and garage peaks
This is the spot most people can’t reach, and it’s where a wreath does the most. A big lit wreath centered in the gable above the garage carries down the whole block, fog or no fog. On the two-story houses around Laguna Lake and the taller plans in Madeira, that peak is a long way up a ladder, so it’s work for two people and a dry day. Not sure yours can be reached? Send a photo, or ask at (916) 823-8394.
How it attaches depends on the wall. A gable vent gives us louvers to tie to. Wood trim takes a hook over its edge. On bare stucco with nothing to grab, the wreath hangs from a line clipped at the roof edge above, so no hole goes into the wall. Then the bottom gets tied off as well. Wind will spin a loose wreath like a weathervane and knock it against the stucco all night.
Steep gables on the older houses in Old Town Elk Grove suit a wreath especially well, since the peak is narrow and a single wreath fills it. A wide, shallow gable needs a bigger one, or it looks lost up there.
In the windows
Window wreaths hang outside, centered in each front window, every one level with its neighbor. Consistency is the trick: all the front windows, or only the upstairs row, never a random few. They hang from the trim above the glass by a hook or a line. Suction cups by themselves let go on a cold wet morning, so we don’t trust them. Single-story streets like those in Glenbrooke are ideal for this, with a few front windows in easy reach and a matching set that’s quick to hang.
Cords and timers
A lit wreath needs power, and a cord dangling down the garage door spoils the effect. We route the lead along a trim line or behind a downspout to the nearest outdoor outlet, or tie it into the roofline strand when both are going up together. A single timer runs the lot, so nothing glows at two in the morning.
Elk Grove Christmas wreath hanging, quoted by phone
Phone (916) 823-8394 and tell us how many and where: door, garage peak, windows. A photo of the front of the house, texted or emailed, lets us judge the gable height and what there is to hang from. We bring the wreaths already lit.
Wreaths rarely go up alone. They match lit garland around the door, and a peak wreath sits best above a lit roofline. If you live on the lake, our Laguna Lake page covers the water side of the house too. Anything else, ask us at (916) 823-8394.
January pickup
The wreaths leave in January with everything else we hung, hooks and lines included. You store nothing. If one stops lighting or works loose in a storm before that, try (916) 823-8394 or the contact page.
Lit Wreath Hanging questions, answered
How does a wreath stay on stucco without drilling?
It hangs from a line clipped at the roof edge above, or from a vent or a trim edge, and it’s tied at the bottom so wind can’t swing it. No anchors go into the wall.
Will a door wreath keep my door from closing?
No. The hanger over the top of the door is thin enough that the door shuts and latches normally.
Can a wreath go on a second-story peak?
Yes. It’s ladder work for two people and we wait for a dry day, but a high peak is often the best place on the house for one.
Does Elk Grove Christmas wreath hanging include the wreath itself?
Yes. We bring the wreaths already lit, hang them, wire them to the same timer as your other lights and collect them in January. You don’t buy one and you don’t store one.
