The Illumination Festival, the city’s own December holiday event, happens at District56 on Civic Center Drive, right in Laguna Ridge. The city lights District56. The houses around it are up to the people who live in them. If you’d like yours handled too, Elk Grove Christmas Light Hanging spends the season on exactly that: Laguna Ridge Christmas light hanging, one house at a time.
The HOA question, answered plainly
You’ll read in places that Laguna Ridge is an HOA area. For most of it, that isn’t so. The parks and landscaped corridors here are paid for through a City Community Facilities District, a line on the tax bill, not an association with a board and a rulebook. The city’s map of homeowner associations shows only small pockets in this part of the 95757 zip: Monterey Village, Jasmine, Glenbrooke and Souza Dairy Unit 2.
If your home sits in one of those pockets, your association’s current rules decide the timing, and we’ll fit the install and the removal to them. We have a page for Glenbrooke. If you live anywhere else in Laguna Ridge, there’s no association schedule that we could find. Put the lights up when it suits your family, and ring (916) 823-8394 once you’ve picked a week. Not sure which camp you’re in? Your closing documents or your property tax bill will tell you faster than any website.
Larger homes, longer ladders
Laguna Ridge was built mostly from the mid-2000s on, and the houses run large: roomy one-stories and plenty of two-stories with modern floor plans, including the Preserve at Laguna Ridge. Bigger houses mean longer eaves and higher peaks. That’s the part people underestimate when they buy a few boxes of lights and borrow a ladder on a Saturday.
We work it in order. The roofline goes first, clipped to the gutter or the roof edge with the right clip for the material, and never fastened into wood or stucco. Upper-story peaks get done from proper ladders by people who do it daily. Then the entry: pillar wraps on the columns, lit garland draped above the door or on a porch rail, and a lit wreath placed high enough to be seen from the street.
Quoting a house this size is still a phone conversation. Call (916) 823-8394 and say how many stories, how many garage bays and what you’d like lit. Photos by text or email make it quicker, and the contact form works if writing is easier. All the lights are ours, so you buy nothing. In January the crew returns, removes everything and takes it away. We’re in East Franklin most days of the season too.
Young trees, wide streets
The street trees are young. Some will carry a tree wrap nicely now. Others are still too thin, and wrapping those isn’t worth your money. We’ll say which is which when you describe the yard or send a picture.
Wide streets change the view. Your house is seen from farther back and at more of an angle than on a tight older block, so the whole outline shows, side gables included. Until the trees grow, stake lights down the driveway and walk fill in the low part of the picture. Stakes go in beside sprinkler heads, not on top of them, and the cords follow the concrete edge.
What Laguna Ridge Christmas light hanging looks like in bad weather
It’s flat and open out here, and newer neighborhoods don’t have a tall canopy to block anything. So every run is clipped snug and the connections are kept raised and covered. Lights that are merely draped tend to be on the lawn by mid-December. And if a strand goes out after we’ve left, (916) 823-8394 is the number for that.
Parks, the college and who drives past
Laguna Ridge has more named parks than most people can list: Horseshoe Park, Kammerer Park, Oasis Park, Promenade Park, Storybook Woods Park, Rose Garden Park. A home that looks onto one of them is viewed straight on across open grass, with no houses opposite to hide a crooked line. The park trees and corridor landscaping belong to the city’s district, so our work stays on your lot. If you’re near the Cosumnes River College Elk Grove Center or Cosumnes Oaks High School, people who don’t live on your street see the house too. We set a timer on every job so the lights are on for all of them and off when the neighborhood turns in. Park lots get quoted with the open side in mind, so mention the park when you call (916) 823-8394.
Laguna Ridge questions, answered
Which parts of Laguna Ridge actually sit inside an HOA?
Only small pockets. The city’s association map shows Monterey Village, Jasmine, Glenbrooke and Souza Dairy Unit 2. The parks and corridors everywhere else are funded through a City Community Facilities District, which is not an HOA.
How do I know if my Laguna Ridge home is in one of the HOA pockets?
If you pay association dues, you’re in one. Your closing documents will name the association. If you only see a facilities district charge on the tax bill, that is not an HOA.
Are my street trees big enough to wrap?
Maybe. Trees here are young, and some are still too thin to be worth it. Send a photo and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Can you reach the peaks on a large two-story?
Yes. Upper eaves and peaks are routine for us, and they’re clipped firmly because the wind is strongest up there.
