The Sunridge side of Rancho Cordova is where the south-county pastures run out and the rooftops start, and it’s where most of our Rancho Cordova Christmas light hanging work lands. The homes are newer, the streets are full of people who get home from Highway 50 after dark, and most folks who call us have the same problem. They want the house lit. They just don’t have a spare weekend to do it. Call (916) 823-8394.
The south end of Rancho Cordova
The Sunridge area runs south of Douglas Road and east of Sunrise Boulevard, down toward Grant Line Road. Inside it you’ve got Anatolia and Sunridge Park, master-planned neighborhoods that are mostly stucco, a mix of one and two stories, on pretty consistent streets. That’s handy for us. Once we’ve lit one house on a block, we have a good idea what the one next door needs.
Kavala Ranch, right next door, runs a little more two-story, so the upper roofline gets lit first and the lower eave is optional. North of Douglas, Rio del Oro is still filling in. Brand-new homes, brand-new roofs, and trees that are basically sticks with a stake tied on. On a new build, roofline lights and stakes do the work. In a few years, when those trees fill out, they’ll be worth wrapping.
Rancho Cordova Christmas lights, done carefully
Tile roofs get tile clips. They hook the front edge of the tile without lifting or cracking it, and they pop off clean when the season’s over. Composition shingle gets a clip that tucks up under the tab, and gutters get one that grabs the lip. At no point do we staple, nail or screw into your roof or trim.
On a two-story house we light the upper roofline first, because that’s the line people notice from the street. The lower eave over the garage is optional. Pillar wraps go on the entry columns that so many newer homes have out front. Tree wraps go on anything with a trunk worth the trouble. Stake lights line the walk and the driveway, placed so the sprinkler heads keep spraying freely. A lit wreath and some garland on the door or stair rail round it out.
Power matters in a newer house. Builders tend to put one outdoor outlet by the garage and one in back, and that’s about it. We spread the load across circuits so a breaker doesn’t trip on night one, then set a timer so the lights handle themselves every evening.
Out the door dark, home dark
A lot of our Rancho Cordova customers leave in the dark and get home in the dark, so there’s no weekday daylight to hang lights, and December weekends are already spoken for. We do the install while you’re at work. You come home to a lit house and a timer that’s already set. If there’s a gate code, a dog, or a side yard we shouldn’t go through, tell us once and it goes on the work order.
HOA neighborhoods
Most of these subdivisions have an HOA, and some spell out a start date and an end date for holiday decorations. Whatever yours says, we’ll plan around it, and since everything comes down in January, you’re well inside most end dates. We also light HOA entrances, monument signs and clubhouses if your board wants the main entry glowing for the season.
Questions we hear a lot
Am I supposed to supply the lights?
Nope. The strands are ours. They show up on our truck and leave on it too, so there’s nothing for you to store.
When do they come down?
In January. We pull everything off the roof and out of the yard and haul it away.
What if a strand goes dark?
Call (916) 823-8394 and a crew member comes out with a replacement. You shouldn’t have to climb up there yourself.
Does the wind out by Grant Line cause trouble?
It gets breezy out there, no question. We keep the clips close together and the slack out of the corners, and that handles almost all of it.
Do you do businesses?
Yes, and we can come early or after hours so we’re not in your customers’ way.
